Tips for Making Rice Krispie Easter Treats

  • To freeze the Easter treats, store undecorated treats in an airtight container in the freezer for up to one month. Allow the treats to defrost at room temperature before decorating with the coconut and eggs.
  • To avoid stale tasting treats, use fresh marshmallows and Rice Krispies cereal.
  • Any egg shaped candies will work for this recipe. If you do not have mini chocolate eggs, you can use jelly beans, peanut Easter M&M’s or another Easter chocolate instead.
  • If you use salted butter, leave the salt out of the recipe.
  • In order to prevent the Rice Krispies mixture from sticking to your tools, spray your measuring cup and tablespoon with nonstick cooking spray before using.
  • Store leftovers in a single layer in an airtight container at room temperature for up to three days.
