How to Make the Easter Handprint & Footprint Printables
1. Print the blank templates.
Print out the Easter templates found at the bottom of this post. You can get them sent directly to your email. There are 6 different designs to choose from, so print out as many as you’d like!
2. Prep your space.
For hand and footprint art, we like to get everything ready ahead of time to avoid messes as much as possible! Fill a large bowl or dish with warm, soapy water and take it to your workspace, along with baby wipes, clean rags, paint, and paintbrushes.
For footprints specifically, we like to have a short chair or stool for the child to sit on while stamping their footprint onto the paper on the ground.
3. Stamp hand and footprints onto the papers.
Apply non-toxic tempera paint onto your child’s hand. If you are doing the chicks, you will need yellow paint for this. If you’re doing the bunny, you’ll need gray.
Guide your child’s hand down onto the page, lining it up as best as possible with the printed details. Once you’ve stamped as many pages as you’d like, help your child wash their hands in the sink or in the bowl of soapy water.
Repeat this same process for the footprints – apply orange paint onto your child’s foot for the carrot, and gray for the bunny and bunny ears. Place the paper on the ground and guide your child’s foot to stamp in the correct place.
Remove their foot and help them wash their foot in the bowl of warm soapy water.
Set the papers aside to dry completely! The carrot and handprint chick below are complete at this stage, but the rest of the designs need a few more details.
4. Add the face details.
Once the painted hand and footprints have completely dried, it’s time to add their face details on top. We like to use a pencil first to draw them on so that we can erase any mistakes easily. Then, use a black marker to draw the eye, whisker, and bunny mouth details.
Use orange paint for the chicks’ beaks and pink paint for the bunnies’ noses and cheeks.
For the larger footprint ear bunny, use a brush to paint on inner ear details in pink over top of the gray footprints.
Once dry, your Easter handprint and footprint art is complete!
Don’t forget to write your child’s name and the date on the page!
