All you need are a few supplies to make these pressed flower jars. You can use recycled jars that you already have on hand to make these luminaries in all different shapes and sizes.

We love how beautiful these look when they are lit up with battery-powered tea lights. After making these, kids will love to turn off the lights and see how pretty they look in the dark!

Supplies Needed

Here’s what you need:
- Various jars
- Dried leaves and flowers – or you can dry your own pressed flowers
- Mod Podge, clear matte finish
- Foam brushes
- Battery-powered tea lights (keep out of reach of really small children due to the battery)
Cleaning Tip
If you’re using recycled jars, gently wash with warm soap and water. Remove any label adhesive before adding the Mod Podge. If you are having trouble removing the label, we recommend using Goo B Gone (adults only), or soaking the jar in warm soapy water and scrubbing with a brush.
How to Make Pressed Flower Lanterns
1. Use a foam brush to paint one side of your jar with Mod Podge.
Note: If you don’t have Mod Podge, you can thin any craft glue that dries clear with a little bit of water and use that instead.

2. Place a few dried flowers and leaves on the jar.
Work carefully! The flowers and leaves are brittle. You can use tweezers if you find they are difficult to pick up.

3. Work your way around the jar by applying a thick coat of Mod Podge to each side and placing the dried flowers and leaves all around the jars.

4. Set the jar aside and allow it to dry for about 30 minutes.
5. Dab a generous amount of Mod Podge on top of the leaves and flowers.
Dab the Mod Podge on instead of using a brushing motion so that you don’t break off the brittle leaves and petals. Dabbing the glue on will also leave a nice texture when it dries.
The Mod Podge will dry clear over the flowers and leaves.

6. Set aside to dry for at least 30 minutes.

7. Place your tea light candle inside and enjoy!
You can even place 2 or 3 tea light candles inside for more illumination!

These pressed flower lanterns would look beautiful as a centerpiece for a party or dinner.
