Looking for an easy activity for kids on New Year’s Eve? Then try making a Printable New Year’s Hat! Just print, color, and assemble! The best part is that kids can wear the hats when they are done making them!

Kids will love coloring their own hat for New Year’s Eve! There are 3 designs to choose from. You can also print off a blank version and kids can create their own.
Add some elastic to the sides of the hat and the hat will stay on! You can find this craft elastic at any craft store or on Amazon.
Supplies Needed
- White Cardstock – you want to print on a thicker paper if possible so it’s more sturdy and especially if you plan to add elastic to it
- Coloring Supplies – markers, colored pencils, or crayons
- Scissors
- Pom Poms – we used 1 inch pom poms
- Hot Glue or Tacky Glue
- Elastic
- Stapler

How to Make a Printable New Year’s Hat
1. Print off the templates.
Choose between 3 designs or a blank template.
You can get the free printables at the bottom of the post.
2. Cut out the template around the outside black border.
3. Color the templates.
You can leave the background white or color in the full hat for a more colorful New Years hat!
4. Fold the template together into a cone shape and glue together.
Apply hot glue or a strong tacky glue to the extra flap on the end of the hat template. Fold the hat together to form the shape of a cone, pictured below.
Glue along the extra flap and bring the two pieces together to form the hat. If using tacky glue, hold the hat together until the glue dries and the paper adheres together.
5. Glue a pom pom on top.
This part is optional but gives the hat a little extra decoration. We added a 1 inch pom pom to the top of the hat with some hot glue (adult assistance).
6. Add elastic.
Measure the size of elastic needed based on the child’s head size. Cut the elastic and staple to each side of the hat. Make sure it’s stapled well or it can fall out when placing on.
These printable New Year’s Eve hats are a fun activity any age can do on New Year’s Eve! We love that kids can wear them at a New Year’s Eve party when they are done creating!
