We used clay pots that are almost 3″ in size, but you can adapt this project to use whatever size of pots that you have on hand!
When done, the finished snowmen make the cutest tabletop decorations for the holidays.

How to Make a Clay Pot Snowman
1. Paint the pots.
Use a paintbrush and white paint to apply a coat of white to the exterior of the clay pot. Set aside to dry completely.
Depending on your thickness of paint, you may need to do two coats of white.

2. Make the snowman’s nose.
Cut a carrot-shaped nose from orange felt, about 1″ long.

Use a tiny dab of hot glue (with adult assistance) or tacky glue to glue it to the center of the painted pot.

3. Add the face.
Use a black permanent marker to draw on 2 eyes and a little smirk on the snowman’s face.

To make the rosy cheeks, dip the eraser end of a pencil into pink paint, and stamp a pink circle onto each side of the nose.

4. Make the ear muffs.
Cut a piece of pipe cleaner into a piece about 4″ long and bend it into a U shape.

With adult assistance, add a small dot of hot glue to each end of the pipe cleaner and press a pom pom onto each, pressing and holding to secure.

Add a small dab of hot glue (with adult assistance) to the ends of the pipe cleaners again (where your ears would go if you were going to wear these ear muffs!) and place onto the pot, pressing to attach.

5. Make the scarf.
Cut a piece of felt into a long strip about 1″ wide and 11″ long.

Use scissors to cut little snips into the ends of the scarf, forming a fringe.

With adult assistance, hot glue the scarf around the base of the pot.

These terracotta snowmen make the cutest Christmas decorations or gifts! Make one or a bunch as gifts!
