How to Make Acorn Cards
1. Print out the template.
Get the free printable template emailed to you at the bottom of the post.
Print on white cardstock or thicker paper – it will take the paint better and wrinkle less than regular printer paper. If using crayons or markers to color than regular paper will work too.
The template is on 1 page. If you want to turn it into a card you will need all pieces, otherwise just cut out the full acorn and leaf for a craft.
2. Color the acorns.
Color the top of the acorn a darker brown than the bottom part. Color the leaf any color you’d like. We used paint to color the acorns.
For the acorn bottom, leave the bottom attached to the top (on the left of the printable) unpainted to write your message on later. Paint the acorn on the right of the page a lighter brown.
Allow the paint to dry completely and then cut out the pieces.
3. Attach the acorn bottom.
Apply a thin line of glue on the unpainted acorn bottom, just below the line where the acorn top begins. Place the painted acorn bottom on top, lining it up with the edges. Let the glue dry.
4. Glue on the leaf.
Apply a small dot of glue onto the stem of the painted leaf and then attach it to the acorn top, pressing to secure.
5. Add the googly eyes.
Apply a dot of glue to the backs of 2 googly eyes and glue onto the acorn template.
6. Draw on the mouth.
Use a black marker to draw a smile onto the acorn’s face.
7. Paint the cheeks on.
Dip the back of a paintbrush or pencil into pink paint and dab onto the sides of the mouth to make the cheeks. Kids can also paint or color the cheeks on.
Once dry, you can write inside the card. We used the message “Love, your little acorn” but you can write anything you’d like!
