The best part about this homemade maple scented playdough is that it’s taste safe. We don’t recommend eating it of course, but it’s great for kids to play with since it’s non-toxic. As always, be sure to supervise the activity and do not allow children under 3 or children that put things in their mouth to play with it.

Maple Syrup Playdough

Here are some activity ideas to do with your maple playdough:

– Have your child help make the playdough by mixing the dry ingredients

– Make maple flavored cookies. Pretend play with a toy cookie sheet and leaf cookie cutters.

– Create a maple tree

Directions to Make Maple Scented Playdough

Note: Adults should cook the playdough. But get your kids involved by having them mix the ingredients before cooking!

In a large pot, add in the wet ingredients: vegetable oil, food color, maple flavor and water (add brown food coloring to water first so it’s easier to mix in), stir.

Then add in your dry ingredients: cream of tartar, salt, flour.

Dry Ingredients Autumn Playdough

Cook over medium heat until the dough starts to form and becomes dry.

Let your dough cool and knead. If the dough feels sticky, add more flour. If you would like more scent, you can add more flavoring and knead in but be careful to not add too much or it will be wet and will need more flour.
